NULO’s founder Michael was concerned with the increase in overweight and diabetic pets. As a former biomedical engineer and athlete, he decided to do his research. The results? Michael discovered that prevalence of low-quality pet foods was responsible for this disturbing trend and decided to create a diet that actually helps pets get in shape.

Why We Love It:

NULO gets that dogs and cats are carnivores — there are essential amino acids they need to nourish and repair muscle tissue that can only be found in animal protein. So unlike brands that use mostly plant protein, the main ingredient in NULO’s formulas is animal protein.

What Makes it Different

They only use high-quality meat like turkey, lamb and salmon. Plus, the few carbs they do use are low glycemic — lentils, chickpeas and sweet potatoes —which means they raise blood sugar less for a lower risk of Type 2 diabetes.
