FIRST OFF, CBD ISN’T MARIJUANA.
They both come from the cannabis plant but have very different results. Marijuana is a type of cannabis with lots of THC (the psychoactive component that gives you a high) and very little CBD. CBD comes from the other type of cannabis, hemp—it’s high in soothing CBD and has only trace amounts of THC (that means 0.3%, or less). CBG (cannabigerol) is another beneficial cannabinoid from hemp which is seen in pet supplements.
A FEW DIFFERENCES AND BENEFITS ACROSS PRODUCTS.
When it comes to CBD and CBG supplements, your pet has options, including full or broad-spectrum products. Full spectrum contains less than .3% THC. Broad spectrum contains no detectable CBD. Both hemp products contain several canniboids, terpenes, flavonoids, antioxidants, fatty acids, vitamins and minerals that can benefit your pet’s wellness.

HOW IT’S MADE MATTERS.
All CBD is made from hemp extractions, but there’s a variety of methods for extracting hemp. When finding the right product for your pet, it’s best to avoid CBD made by butane or ethanol extraction. These toxic substances can be left behind in the oil. CO2 extraction is a safe alternative.
Come across hemp seed oil? Same plant, different product. note that hemp seed oil does not have the same concentrated canniboids or benefits as CBD or CBG.
FIND WHAT WORKS FOR YOUR PET.
CBD and CBG come in lots of delivery options including oils, biscuits, soft chews, capsules, salves, gels and even products that mix it with food, such as peanut butter. Once taken, you should see results within 15-30 minutes, and those should last about 4-8 hours. CBD and CBG should be safe for your pet to take with other medications but, as with any major change, it’s always good to check with your vet.
