NATIONAL CAT DAY: OCTOBER 29TH
National Cat Day was founded to bring attention to the staggering number of cats entering shelters each year, as well as to celebrate the cats in your life that you love unconditionally. There are an estimated 4 million cats entering shelters each year and up to half of them are humanely euthanized? Intact female and male cats that are allowed to roam outside the home can produce up to two litters a year! With each cat averaging a 2 to 3 kittens the numbers multiple quickly. This litters end up on the streets or in shelters waiting for forever homes.
This October 29th visit a local shelter or rescue and consider adding a cat into your home. Cats can offer unconditional love and companionship, and owning a cat can lower your blood pressure, reduce your anxiety and improve your mental health. Plus, because of their small size, cats are great for apartment living as well as homes.
If you already own a cat take the day to show your cat a little extra love and attention. Bring them home a new toy or some catnip to show your appreciation for the joy they bring to your life. Make National Cat Day a day they won’t forget.
