In the last year, you may have noticed Kriser’s has more options in what is called the “containment” realm…the carriers, crates and pens that are designed to keep your furry friends safe and sound.

Generally, the rule of thumb to get the best sized crate, pen or even carrier for your dog or cat is that the pet should be able to comfortably stand up and turn around in the space allowed. Many people choose a slightly smaller carrier, with the idea that they’ll just leave the top open, but we strongly recommend using this rule of thumb.

Here are just a few of the options you can find at your local Kriser’s:

Wire Crates: These are fairly new to Kriser’s but are a vital part of puppy training and introducing a new pet into the house. We carry three sizes of wire crates from Petmate, but see your Kriser’s Pack Member if you need to special order a size.

Plastic Crates: We have two different sizes of the plastic Petmate Compass kennels, which can be used both for crating pets in the home or for pets who need to travel in the belly of a plane, since they are approved for airline travel.

Exercise Pens: Also by Petmate, these pens are designed to afford the pet space for safe indoor or outdoor play, while being easy to fold up and store. We have two sizes in stock at most locations, but again, ask your Pack Member for special orders ability.

Carriers: We have two types of carriers at our stores, one for more casual use by Dogo and one, the Sherpa Deluxe Carrier, that is also approved for under-the-seat airline travel. Both of these are designed for the smaller dog or cat, so definitely talk to a Kriser’s Pack Member about your needs and your specific pet before taking them home.
